Bible Verses About Courage

Biblical courage is not the absence of fear but faith-filled action despite fear. These verses call us to be strong and courageous because God is with us.

Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

God commands Joshua to courage based on His promised presence.

Deuteronomy 31:6

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."

Moses encourages Israel with God's promise never to abandon them.

1 Corinthians 16:13

"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong."

Paul calls believers to vigilance, faith, courage, and strength.

Psalm 31:24

"Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the LORD."

David connects courage with hope in the LORD.
